The goal of the forklift truck medical assessment is to meet the requirements of the CSA Program Standard B335-94 for Industrial Lift-Truck Operator Training. The basic use for these medicals are to identify whether a worker is fit, not fit, or fit with restrictions for working as a forklift truck operator.

Health & Safety legislation requires that employers ensure that employees are competent to do their work, and able to do so safely. The employer is also expected to meet recognized standards where they exist.

In Canada, CSA Standard B335-94 recommends that employers ensure workers are medically fit to operate a forklift by conducting an employee health assessment which includes:

  • A hearing test
  • A vision test
  • An upper back/neck mobility test
Occu-Med has designed a Lift truck medical designed specifically to meet the requirements of this CSA Standard.
